Back on the WWagon

WWell, WWell, WWell, it's that time of year again: time for the annual Amanda Carona Challenge. Who, you may ask, is Amanda Carona? WWell folks, she's the woman who, on the night of my senior prom, almost two decades ago--after a trip to the Steak & Ale, a boatload of Purple Passion and some awfully awkward slow dancing with a boy I thought I could love--showed me the ultimate high school kindness: she held my hair back.

And now, Amanda has seventeen pounds to lose, and I've got a stack of baby weight to shed, and Holly wants to rid herself of the last 42 pounds, and Erryn's ready and willing, and I'm sure there's a whole nother slew of you out there who dipped a little too far into the cookie jar, so this is your chance to make it known.
In twenty minutes, I'm making the long slow walk down Court Street and hopping on the Weight Watchers scale. A point will no longer be something scored in a football game or a specific idea I'm trying to edge into a conversation; instead, a point will become a complex calculation of calories, fat and fiber, a number given to every imaginable food by the powers that be over at Weight Watchers.

Every Monday, I'll post my progress here (& on Amanda's blog), and every Monday, I hope you will too. I'm starting at X, and I'm hoping in fifteen or so Mondays to be at X-15. Use a pseudonym if you wish (i.e. BabyWeight44), but please people, let's do this together. I don't care if you have two pounds to lose (you'll still have to maintain!) or two hundred; we'll have a Monday accountability group. It's not about WW; it's about posting our progress. All this time in cyberspace: it's time we started getting a little something back from our virtual world.

So who's in?

LOVE IT!!!! It was my pleasure to hold your hair back because it kept me from feeling awkward around my prom date!!! Oh, those were the days!!!! So glad we are doing this together and hope to cross the finish line with you. Today is actually my 4th day on point. I've done well so far, but not skinny yet. My weigh in day is on Friday, but I'll report on your site on Mondays!!! Love you girl...even if there is more of you to love!!! HAHA

Hey, I wish I could get in on this but it's bad timing for me... already dropped my excess 40 pounds with WeightWatchers over the past six months. Good luck to everybody though! (Jen... Hope the half marathon works out. I just ran the Thunder Road Half Marathon December 13th and it was a great experience!)

Jen--A half marathon!? You're amazing. I thought only my pappy was crazy enough for that. And pappy, I think you could be our maintenance guy--a beacon of inspiration. You can't get out of it that easy!

Where are you other moaners out there? Come on, peeps.

This is off topic but I really need a good piece of fiction to read!! If I keep buying books based on the NY Times Bestseller List, I'm bound to be disappointed. Read any good fiction lately?

I'm with ya girl... I won't be running any half marathons... but I'll be riding my fabulous new bike my dear husband got me for Christmas (Roxie is her name) she's a cruiser, or so I'm told, pink with chrome and white wall tires.... she's a beauty... I'm trying to add the last 42 to my previous loss of 112..... then it's a trip to New York for me!! Let's kick it girls :)

Steph, I hate to say it but all my reading's been related to child-rearing! I'll keep my ears open and try to find something good. I definitely need to step away from the Dr. Spock!

You go girl! You are the reason your dad and I joined Weight Watchers and began running, leaving a few pounds behind!
