Let's Make a Liar out of Eliot

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain.

Such a shame to disgrace the lilacs. And for goodness sake, Thomas Stearns, what's so wrong with memory and desire? Aren't those what turned you to poetry in the first place?

Lee--I knew you would comment! When I think of Eliot, I think of you.
