You Never Know

Today I'm really grateful that life doesn't always turn out like you think it will.
The wind, if given the chance, will blow your hair in your face;
two men will walk you down the aisle;
the clouds will suddenly part; you'll find a new cereal
or be able to balance in headstand or say no to chocolate;
your pappy's voice--the one you've heard all your life--will make you cry,
and then, before you know it, the wind will blow again,
and you'll be standing there in front of God and everybody, saying,
I do, I do, yes-sir-ee-bob, I do...

Nicole, not to get sappy or anything (a sappy pappy?), but it was a special honor for me that you used my recording of "What a Wonderful World" in your wedding. For that 3-minute period of time while the song played just before you walked down the aisle, I felt a special bond between me and you, my only daughter, and I knew that even as I gave you away in marriage that you would still always be my little girl.

Ah Sapster, I loved it! Really. It meant the world to me. You know, I had to condition myself for it. Every time I heard it I cried (i.e. balled like a little girl), so Cody sat me in the kitchen every morning for weeks until I was down to just a handful of tears. Thank you for that voice of yours and for being you--the best dad in the whole world.

Is there a link we could put up so other people can hear it?

Thanks Nicole... I appreciate that vote of confidence, although I'm sure most other people with a dad might take exception to me being the best one (but I'm glad you think so!).

Since that song is under copyright I don't ordinarily have it posted on the Internet, but just for now I've posted it on my website as a "test file" and will leave it up for a week or so. Here's a link that should play it (I think)...

If that link doesn't work it can be found on the following page as "test file.":

Hmm...I don't know that I'm technically advanced enough. Or maybe my computer's lacking advancement. I'll keep trying. And don't worry that computer comment wasn't to get "the best dad in the whole world" to swing me one for Christmas!
